Swanson's Bitchin' Salmonfly SBS

Bitch Creek goes topwater. Sorry, no pictures of the body weave (still waiting for that third hand to sprout); here’s a good sequence (looks a hell of a lot better than mine) http://www.swedneckflyfishing.com/parallelweave_steps.htm

hook - Tiemco 200r #4
thread - MFC 6/0 hot orange
tail - moose body
feelers/legs/antennae - medium rubber brown
abdomen - Congo Hair orange/black (woven)
underwing - landscape fabric
over/underwing - Krystal Flash pearl
wing - elk mane
head - deer hair dyed dun
indicator - foam orange

Part 1

mash barb; start thread and create thread base at the head

clean, stack, measure (hook point to hook eye) a clump of deer hair; trim to length, tie in with 2 soft loops, gradually increase tension, let it spin, then trim

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) some moose body hair; tie in, cover butts with thread

Part 2

add feelers

tie in CH; weave, tie off, trim

round one end of strip (gap width) of landscape fabric; measure for length (tip to tail), add a drop of Super Glue at head and tie in

tie in KF, fold back/tie down

clean, stack, measure (tips to tail) a clump of elk; trim butts, tie in

push hair at head back with finger (try to ensure even distribution around hook)

Part 3

pull fibers back over body and tie down

add legs

indicator

whip finish, SHHAN, trim out hair on underside of head

trim KF, indicator, legs/antennae/feelers

Scott
