In the time frame in question it would not surprise me if many casual trout fishermen decided that it was a place to save some money. If you look at the overall cost of trout fishing for someone who has to drive several hours to fish and buy flies at fly shop prices eliminating a couple trips a year in favor of warm water fishing closer to home makes a lot of sense in troubled economic times.
I have a call and an email out to the head researcher doing this SURVEY.
I will share the survey here if he shares. I also asked how he picked the 800
and asked to be included on the results. ALL the WDNR people I have had dealings
with have been very helpful and courteous.
Thanks for doing the leg work Spinner.
Nice work Len…
I agree, good work and thank you again.
The survey is quite comprehensive.
Of the 2,200 folks that quit…the ones deceased and ones that had moved were weeded out. All addresses were verified and a random computer program picked the 800 that were getting surveys. I like the random program so no “Cherry Picking” can be called. The initial mailing was made and recently a second prompt to please fill out the survey was sent.
My folks say don’t expect much change until 2013…if any.
