Thought I’d hit one of the local municipal reservoirs Sunday morning before it started raining. Had vest and my original White River 8wt laid out and ready to go Saturday night hoping form some LMB’s or smallies. Grabbed a 4wt on the way out just to have a light rod on hand (the 4wt was also my first rod build).
First fish on was a Green Sunfish if I’m not mistaken. Took it on the 8wt with a #6 Matuka style streamer. A little over 5". What a fight! Almost flicked it right out of the water.

I was using the 4wt off and on with a small bugger with no results until it started raining. On way way back to the car, walking around reservoir, I remembered the foam butt caddis from NJTroubum I tied up a few months ago and switched to that. Second cast and BAM, another 5" Green Sunfish. By the time I got a picture, let fish go, and camera put away it was a nice steady rain.

The 5" sunnie I barely felt on the 8wt, but was a nice catch on the 4. I still could have flung it over my shoulder if I yanked too hard, but oh what fun.
