Anthony - Don’t suppose there is anyway you can get to those carts but if so - here’s an old commercial fisherman’s trick for pulling out ‘mudded in’ traps.
Attach a line to the object and tie a capped heavy gallon jug (bleach bottle, etc.) as far under the water as you can reach. In a matter of days the jug will reach the surface. Re-tie as needed. Wave action will drag it right out of there. I’ve seen slat traps pulled out of 6 feet of sand this way.
Probably no help in your case but I promise - it works.
Anthony,
Try this:
Go to a Pepboys, tirestore, or Cragen Auto etc. and wait till some young fellow comes in with a huge 4X4 with a winch. Offer to wash it a couple times for him in exchange for winching-out those carts for you. You take the winch hook and place it around the heavy part of the basket’s tubing, get the heck out of the way (way far away because if the cable snaps it recoils and can kill)and let the winch do the job.

One of my favorite leaders is a 12 foot length of Berkley FireLine,Has roughly half the diameter of mono for the same break strength,Also has NO stretch so detecting strikes while Nymph fishing is Muchly improved. no it’s not clear…and I do not use a tippet of clear material…but you could if you felt more comfy with one…I use 4 lb. a lot while fishing for carp…and see no ill effects of line shyness…can’t think of any pickier fish out there…Just some thoughts… 10 lb works great in my bass and panny fishing,I fish an extremely weedy lake a lot…
