Heres another tip that i’m guessing most people already know, but I hadn’t heard until about a year ago when my friend John clued me in. It has dramatically improved my quill body flies:
Before tying, soak the quills in a mixture of water and a small amount of hair conditioner. I just fill a plastic water bottle with water and about half a teaspoon of conditioner, and mix well. I’ve had really good results with organic conditioners, but I’m curious if a conditioner designed to preserve the color of dyed hair would work even better? Has anyone tried that type of conditioner on dyed quills??
