Striper Fishing

I just glanced at the striper fishing bulletin below and read a lot of interesting information. I am headed to Monomoy Island flats this week and plan to fish the flats on Thursday and Friday. Fished it last year with a guide and had a tremendous day landing about 30 striper ranging from 25 - 37 inches. We fished the same dates and since this time I am going it alone (without a guide) I was wondering if the tides, etc. usually follow the same dates each year. As you can see I am new to this but have been waiting to go back since last year!

Anybody fished this area recently? If so, are the fish coming in? I plan on site fishing most of the time if “weather” permits.

The tides do not follow the calendar. Go to [url=http://www.tidesonline.com/showtable.php?stationname=Boston&IDNUM=209:b86b4]http://www.tidesonline.com/showtable.php?stationname=Boston&IDNUM=209[/url:b86b4]

You will find low Tide on Saturday is around 5:00 AM. Figure a change from low to high every six hours and add one hour from one day to the next.

Jed,
Thanks for the info and the tide chart.

Coach
I fished there last Monday
The tide was perfect, the sun shown (mostly)
There were only four other guys there
Only one reported seeing any bait, but he saw alot
Very few fish were caught
The guys fishing the inside of south beach did better, but all small fish

We did much better on the Bay side flats later in the week

May the fish that you catch always be larger than the hole in your net

Answering my own message!

Just returned from Cape Cod and the fishing was good if you measure numbers (averaged about 10 a day) but size was not like last season (Between 16 - 27 inches). Fishing seemed to be going OK on South Beach point and flats but we fished west flats of North Monomoy and the waves made it difficult to see fish on the flats before they saw you.

Thanks for the replies and info, it all helped.
