I am jealous of you guys that have pretty cold water streams close to home. I get to chase warmwater fish in my creeks and drive three hours to chase trout. I have to trout fish vicariously through you all! Thank you.
Great slideshow; love that grayling (I’ve been up there a few times and only managed some cutts and dink brookies). Dug this pic up from the vaults and scanned it in. Best day fishing I’ve ever had (Harker’s Island, Oct ‘98 ) - motored out to The Hook in heavy fog (4 guys in a 19’ Carolina Skiff - talk about crazy choreography), couldn’t see much of anything until about 10:00 AM; then the fog burned off, and the albies were on the bait non-stop for 6 hours (my neighbor took one right under George Bush’s feet; his Secret Service guys looked p.ssed but he just laughed it off and hooked one on his next cast). We ended up with about 40 fish boated, at least that many hooked and lost, 2 gannets and a tern (ldr’d a pelican 2 days earlier), and 3 broken rods; man that was fun.
Many of the “Bitterroot” pix are from the East and West Forks. The Lochsa is my adopted home water, and more about that Wild and Scenic River can be seen on an earlier thread about “Run Off 2011.”
It was a lot of work to bring these slideshows together - but it was time well spent reliving many fun days fly angling on so many beautiful streams and rivers here in the Rocky Mountains.
