Streamer/fly eyes....a profound tip!

When I 1st started tying I didn’t whip finish but used half hitch tools.
If you did the same…don’t let ‘em’ tools collect dust as they do a much better job putting on painted eyes then anything else I’ve tried.
A long time a go, I believe Fly Fishing …no…it was American Angler magazine that asked for fly tying tips but apparently wern’t to impressed by this one.

I had lots of trouble with streamer eyes. I found the best painting tool. I bought a pice of balsawood 1/8th X 1/8th. I then use a pencil sharpener the old hand crank type. Just sharpen it to a point you want and try it on a sticky note pad. Then on your streamer head.

Fabric paint right out of the bottle then nail polish.
I trim the brush a little, but that is also right from the bottle
Very simple

Guys…guys…guys!
Half hitch tools usually come in a cheap set of various sizes. The end hole actually holds enough paint with one dip to do two or more round eyes at a time.

My eyes are round w/o any additional tools

It’s an American Angler conspiracy!
