Here are some of the streamers that I like to carry to the river. Not much has changed since last year and all of them have proven their worthiness to stay in the box. Ive been tying my fingers off getting ready for the season. The left side of the box is unweighted which is what I use most on fast sink tip line. The right side is weighted in some form or another.
I love swinging, stripping, dead drifting the big fat ugly streamers for the smallies and trout.
Its funny you say that. He is the guy that I base my patterns from. Ive got bunny, deer hair, and marabou in anyone of those patterns in one form or another. If you go to You Tube and look under videos and type his name in he actually ties a Zoo Cougar. He also has another video clip where he describes how to figure out which color streamer to use. He also gives a brief explanation of his set up that he uses.
If you can read his book, “Modern Streamers for Trophy Trout”, you will be convinced that the method works. My number of fish days has come up since using his techniques.
That box kicks butt. That goes on every trip with me. I can probably fit 100 patterns in there if I really wanted to. I would like to try some of their new products that they have come out with.
Yes I have Gallup book, although I haven’t tried out his techniques or flies yet. I am just starting with the streamers. Actually last fall was my introduction and I’m now a firm believer. It reminds me of my Rooster Tail days.
I need one of these Cliff’s Bugger Barn boxes. Anyone know of a good deal on these? I want two. I can buy them locally at the Orvis store and not pay shipping, but if the price is right there might be a better place to get one. I looked at the larger, saltwater type of C&F boxes but they cost twice as much as these.
