I have a bunch of tools from when I was turning wrenchs and discovered a great fly tying tool from them. I bought for about $1.00 a little tool that will magnatize and demagnatize your tools. When tying a bunch of flies of the same size hook I take the hooks out of the pkg and place them on the magnatize side. If I need a dozen that is how many I place on there. They stay put even if you drop the tool and you have the exact amount of hooks you need for that size. I have had as many as 24 on there at a time.
I have a sheet magnet stuck on my fly tying bench thats been there for years. Convenient place to store the current hooks I’m gonna tie on.

i magnetized my scissor tips for picking those tinsy hooks up in case i drop them :oops: :roll:
hmm, can you post a pic or a link so we can see what the tool looks like. where did you get it, it sound really neat. i wonder what causes them to demagnitize

A friend picked up a bunch of these at a Dollar Store and gave them to some of his friends, myself being lucky enough to be on that list. As you might guess, they were only $1 each. :lol:
