Ste-Marguerite River FishIn 2006

Hey gang, …

Been kicking the idea around for 2 years now … time to start seeing if there is any interest.

I also already dropped a line to Jack Hise and he figures we won’t conflict.

How about a fishIn on my home waters: http://pages.videotron.com/fcch/homewaters/RvSteMarguerite.html[/url:dd082]
next summer.

There are three distinct “seasons” on my home waters.[ul]
[li]Mid June - August 1st - Adult Atlantic salmon fresh from the sea (C&R) Variable success… Black flies and less trout.[/:m:dd082][/li][li]Mid July 'til Sept 15th - Mixed bag of Adult salmon, Grisle (juvenile salmon) and sea run brook trout (adults). C&R adult salmon, C&R on grisle and trout is optional.[/:m:dd082][/li][li]Sept 16th - Oct 15 Juvenile sea run brookies (under 2 lbs usually).[/*:m:dd082][/ul][/li]
As you see by the list, … I’m leaning towards early August to have a choice of fishing opportunities.(there is also lake fishing and resident trout in other streams nearby).

*** Edit August 8th2005 ***
As Bardsville will probably be open next season, … we’ll have everyone (if possible) stay there. We can sleep about 68 anglers in 5 cottages, 1 heritage site cottage and 6-8 studios).

The link below is still available, … but it would be preferable to keep the gang in one place (and it is situated right on the river)

Accomodations will probably be at: http://www.ferme5etoiles.com[/url:dd082]
… that is if I can’t organize something better.

*** end edit ***

Other activities in the area include whale watching, 3 other salmon rivers, …

So, … If you’re interested, drop me an e-mail or reply here.

We’ll see how much interest there is and work out the details over the fall and winter.

For photos of my fishery and some extracts from other season, hit the link in my signature to our home page.

Duuuuuuuuude!

FlyAngler, …

I’ll take that as a “interested”

Two “interested”. What’s a rough idea of the price per person in American Dollars for a week in modest housing not including transportation? The mid time period looks the best to me.

Same here, I’d like to know some some prices???

Spelling and Grammar not subject to judgement…

Here’s some info on the licenses and Rod fees:

Fishing licenses:
(we’ll do this in Canadian $$ so I don’t make any mistakes, … multiply by about 0.78 to make it in real money)

Non resident for Atlantic salmon is 31$ per day or 112$ for the season (maximum of 7 salmon)… You can also get a non-resident C&R licence for 10.25$ for the season.

Note: it’s a salmon river, so you need a salmon licence, even if you 're fishing for trout (they are sea runners).

Add to this the daily rod fees:
The river is divided into about a dozen zones. Some are unlimited rods, … others are limited (some to 2 anglers per day).

Unlimited rods sections are zones 1&3, … and we add the #2 zone starting 1 august. So in august, unlimted rods in 1,2&3 for 38.25$ per day.

Limited rods sections.
The prime zones in late august - mid september are 54.77$ per day.

Other zones are available, … but for the $$, … zones 2,4,Big Pool, On?zime and Dampool are the best and run all for 55$.

This year, Adult salmon are all C&R, Daily limit for grisle is 2 and sea run brooks are 3 per day.

Hope this helps.

Lodging, … I haven’t nailed down the rates yet, but will get that (I hope) on the weekend. The place I scoped out offers everthing from camping (tents), RV sites, condos with kitchens and hotel rooms.

I’ll get back to y’all.

p.s. … I don’t think the river associate has an english page, … but if you want to test out your highschool french, … rates are @: http://www.arsm.qc.ca/tarifs800.htm[/url:c6744]

Just a little update, …

We got news on the weekend that the Bardsville site WILL be open next year.

This means we could probably try to arrange lodging there. This way, … the cottages and camping will be right on the river. One can therefore fish 20 ft out the back porch from the cottages, instead of driving.

More to come …

p.s.

Had a nce weekend, … not a lot of action, … but nice to back to the river (Boris Tremblay does the honors for a Salmo salar that wouldn’t hold still for a photo … Oh well, I rather do a quick release than get a good photo

Cactus AKA “Lucky Dog (Pirate Name)”

Jack,

That would be the idea. Nice road trip up here for Salmo salar, (adults and Grisle) as well as sea run brokkies,… BBQ, … saturday will probably be the annual benefit supper too (no obligation), … leisurely drive abck down South and hit the Au Sable.

Neat eh?

Bob Alexander

i’m hitch hiking to iowa, picking up evil dave, and we should be there by next year.

Dave you better start now. There are allot of bars between here and Chris’. It’ll take us at least a year to get to the Canadian border.

Chris

All that info about license and rod cost is fine. But what is a case of LaBatts Blue and Molson going for? And some Cuban cigars? Me and Micus need to figure that into our expenses. We figure one of us will be fishing while the other is sleeping off the binder from the night before so we’ll save money on license and rod fees. G

EvilDave,

Cigars, … I don’t know, … the visiting team usually brings those

As for brew, … we don’t use none of them pesky lil’ bottles, … they make these neat 1.5 litre bottles up here for 5.55$ cdn

(so that comes out to about 10 bucks ($USD) for a (US) gallon of beer)

Chris

1.5 litres? Now you’re talking. Micus alone can consume a case of those a day. And as far as the cigars are concerned, if the good folks at the bordre let us in, will pick up a box or two on the way.

hahaha you said “bordre”

dang that’s awesome!

MFTG

MFTG,

Maybe EvilDave was trying to put a french accent on an english word.

In many situations, that’ll get you by

Sounds like we could afford to drive there and drink with you, but not fish. C’est la (freaqueing expenseeve) vie!
