Start a Library of Fly Rods

I just read a thread posted by I think Gramps asking about a fly rod. It got me to thinking what if we started a library.

It could be set up like a library or like Net Flicks. A library would be set up on the trust of the members. The Net Flick kind would be set up as long as you have a credit card, try it send it back, don?t and you bought it.

This would help a lot of us choose a rod or see what its like to fish a rod out of a price range.

Just me thinking.

What a grand idea. Now all we need is a volunteer to manage all the transactions/loans, and to handle the disputes over broken, damaged, scratched, lost and otherwise abused rods. Hmmmmmm, who would be a good person to do this thankless job? Oh, I know…Sean. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Let’s see if this works. YOU ship me your most expensive rod for me to try out to see if I want to actually own one like it, and I’ll get it back to you just as soon as I’m able to. TRUST ME! I promise to be careful with it, and to keep it away from my nine kids and their friends. (Actually there are only 6 living with me, and the other three should get out of the DH in another month or so.

Joe

P.S. Just busting your Cleveland tomatoes. Somehow I don’t see this idea ever getting beyond the discussion stage.

Joe;
I wouldn’t trust you or your buddy DICK with even a cheap rod!! Being the honest trustworthy person that I am I will handle the transactions/loans from my villa in the Grand Cayman’s.
And don’t knock Cleveland, I spent a week there one night!!
Lake Erie HIgh Ball, your post has merit but I wouldn’t send a rod to Joe or myself “To Try Out” without a $1,000.00 deposit! One to DICK would require at least a $2,000.00 deposit.
LEHB Joe, DICK and I know each other very well, one thing about attending Fish-Ins. Joe and I have done business and now I have a couple of fingers missing!! All we did was shake hands? Thank goodness my wallet was in my sock!

You know what would be way cool. A fly rod data base. A spreadsheet that listed fly rods by cost, manufacturer, and some other characteristic to relate to action (fastness, slowness, stiffness, work index, whateverness). Now that would be cool. Each rod could have a hyperlink to a comments section and to the manufacturers website. Now I am definitely not the guy to do it because if you have ever read any of my stuff, I am controversial. But it would really be a cool way to have expert ratings and comments in a permanant data base to reference. This is one of those “somebody ought to” things like some body ought to write a book or something.

Just a hollow comment with nothing to back it up.

I don’t think that Joe would abuse a rod. I know that he wouldn’t catch any fish with it… :shock:

<Yeah, we’re all just, plain mean. Would you prefer really advanced mean?..>

Ed, who caught no more than Joe did, off the dock.
