Strongly dislike their burned coffee, but have been drinking it for the last month or so in a show of support…
McDonald oral argument just completed makes things look better every day…
Completely agree plus the CEO is a jerk or worse, a two faced liar, so I refuse to drink thier coffee and haven’t drank it for years. Doesn’t matter to me that they actually obey the carry laws.
I didn’t have a clue what this was about so thanks for bringing it up here. I post on another board, called Coffee Geeks and many won’t even type the name of the company out so they won’t get any publicity instead they type the name like this: *bucs. I don’t think that their coffee is spectacular. I think that they did move the common Foldger coffee drinker toward a milk based with a little coffee added type of drink. I’m a home roaster, which means I take green coffee beans and roast them myself because I want to get a good cup of coffee. I’m drinking a cup of Ethiopian Sidamo that I brewed with my commercial Bunn unit that I have in the house right now. Guess what though. I willl start to type their name on the Coffee Geeks board like this: STARBUCKS and I will stop in more often to buy what I consider a milk based drink that is nowhere close to a true Italian type of esspresso based drink with a little steam milk added. I believe in supporting companies that support me. STARBUCKS just moved up the list of the good guys for me.
I figured out a number of years ago that my love of espresso could cost me a whole lot fewer $$ if I made it at home. My espresso machine paid for itself long ago. And my Italian family thinks I’m great for keeping our heritage alive! Win/win. That said, I guess I’ll buy a cup or two of Starbucks now.
Steve,
Obviously you made an assumption that I’d/ we’d know what’s up . I ain’t gots NO clue. Could you please expand the tghought :). I did get the gist that it’s about guns(?), a subject dear to my heart.
Mark
PS: Clay, you have like minded coffe roasting dudes here on FAOL. There was a multi-posted thread about that here a while back.
Marco here’s a Google search with the words Starbucks and gun in it: http://www.google.com/search?q=starbucks+and+gun&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1&rlz=1I7ADSA_en
On your PS. That thread back in Oct of 2008 is what prompted me to start roasting. There is no looking back now. In 2009 I roasted over 120 pounds green coffee beans. When you average over 10 pounds of coffee per month, you have an obbession. It’s not quite as bad as my fly fishing hobby, but I am personally involved with my coffee every day of the week.
I’m not sure if all of you remember. Starbucks, when asked for coffee for our troops in Aphganistan said NO !! When 911 happened NYPD and NYFD had to pay for their coffee and water!!! I REMEMBER
Guns, politics, and religion…
Let’s keep them out of FAOL.
Any situation that is as highly charged as gun control, health care, or worm drowning being superior to fly tossing…
None of the above discussions can lead to any good in this BB, those discussions have their own place and time, neither of which is here.
It’s the difference of opinion that makes our country stronger in the end, so long as we put up with all those idiots that have it wrong (if they could only see it OUR way…).
Support Starbucks, or not, based on your political motivations or personal feelings toward the quality of their coffee, or your personal belief that they degrade mermaids, or should distribute free ammo instead of music. Its all the same to me.
Just remember that guy upstream of you in the tutu with the bobber on the end of a pocket fisherman, gun on his hip, and starbucks cup to his lips while belting out a plausible rendition of Oklahoma probably is a little unhinged for at least one reason. Best to just let him have his own opinion. Who knows? Catching a sea snipe with a secret government tracking chip on the dorsal fin just might prove his sanity. Then we can all remove our tinfoil hats.
Thank you.
…where the wind blows freely down the plains… … damn it. now I’ve got that tune stuck in my head.

You are correct, I don’t know exactly what I was thinking, I am certainty not trolling , tho it could seem so, not looking to ruffle any feathers either, to many darn good people here.
I get a fly in my hat once in a while…
So please close this thread and lets get back to fishing and leave this be…
Be safe!
