You’re certainly ready. You must go through a lot of those. Do you have a cutter or do you use scissors?

i’m old school. i just us a steel straight edge, cutting board and a utility knife. then i trim each strip with scissors to a taper for easier tie in

cheaper than river road cutters

Those are nice.

I’m getting excited for the bluegill, crappie and perch spawn. I guess the end of April and into May here in PA. Every year I get caught up in the mayfly hatches and forget the panfish. This year I pledge to fish for the spawn. It’s a lot of fun landing fish on my 3 wt. fly rod. Not only that, I have flies tied just for panfish, too.

Look out blue gills! Thanks for posting Norm.

Norm,
I tie a similar foam black ant pattern that the blue gill love here in Florida. I’ve been meaning to tell you that I really enjoy seeing the flies you tie. Can’t get over how good the head on you salmon fly patterns look. Keep up the good work.

May would probably be closer to the bluegill spawn. My buddies and I rent a house up near Lake Wallenpaupack toward the end of May. We had to cancel last year. We’ve all had our vaccines and are headed up May 21st. We fish the smaller lakes in the area like Shohola and Little Egypt.
They’re still in the spawning mode at that time. Those spiders would be deadly. A sample of what’s waiting for you.

Three days before and after every full moon is killer for bream I think April will be the first spawn and through August maybe September.

Wow, those are awesome. I bet they’re a blast on a fly rod. Are you saying I’m invited, haha? Lake Wallenpaupack–I’ll have to see where it is.
