Spiked Wading Sandals

I’m thinking of buying a pair of Spiked Wading Sandals to go over my
rubbler-soled wading boots.

Does anyone have an opinion on spiked soles? Some feel they make
noise in the stream and scare fish.

I could buy felt sandals without the spikes.

Thanks,

Somewhere in the back of my mind is a book where someone had those on and got a snag jammed between the sandle and boot. Said he nearly drowned. I don’t remember the book but I don’t bother with stuff where I think the author is off kilter. Just a thought.

I don’t know if you plan on fishing the salt at all, but if you fish from jettys or the “black rocks” on the coast, spikes are required equipment.
Corkers, golf shoes, anything to keep you from taking an unexpected swim

Years ago I used spiked sandels on my boot waders when I fished the Salmon River in NY. They prevented me from slipping on slate flats and were much more effective than using felt. The downside is that when I wore the sandels they were heavy and cumbersome, that’s what lead me to having my local shoe repair shop golf shoe soles directly on the boot bottoms. The downside is that you can put holes in your waders if your spikes come in contact while wading. The other thing is that the spikes seemed to wear out quickly and were in need of changing quite often. :?
