Hi

Here in my local town we have an event like this. A Carp is tagged and the lucky fisherman who catches it wins a monetary prize. This event is held annually and is used to clean our local lake in town of Carp. All Carp caught are killed humanly and used as fertiliser by our town parks and wildlife managers. I suppose we have a different perspective, view on the Carp to other countries. Personnaly I believe its as good a game fish and just as worthy to be sort as trout, etc but its feral to our waters and said to be destroying river water quality. So its illegal for fisherman who catch Carp to release them back into the water unless you live in New South Wales or the Australian Capital Territory., though if someone saw you release one back into the water, there would be an uproar.

Cheers

Hey Ginseng,
Welcome to this place.

Here is W. MA. we’ve got them, and there are no requirements to remove them from the waters. They are in some of our cleaner rivers and would make for fine eating. I just never target them so I don’t catch them.
