South Western Alberta and beyond, 2010 to 2011 Fly Fishing Season.

Snow and Run off have slowed things down here, even the lakes have slowed right down, forecast is for better weather next week ! Here’s to hoping so!

I Spy with my little eye…Jager!

Nice fishing man! Looks like endless fun up there!

;)Thanks it is my favorite "Cough syrup for the winter time…

We splurged with Bailie’s and Good Scotch that day as we thought it would be the last winter type of day for the year, then we saw all the bugs that were out and now we have had a lot of snow and cold temps, I hope this does not mess up the bugs for the year!

Hope the weather turns around and brings some fishable water your way.

Thanks, it has been a weird Spring, snow is normal But NOT THIS MUCH ALL AT ONCE!!!

Yes I am yelling I need to fish…No Snowshoe!!!

Remember those shot gun shells I posted the picture of earlier, well I picked them up and counted as I picked them up THERE WAS 187 spent Shells and one live shell

That is crazy, well good karma came around and I was rewarded with my very first river Brown… not just one but 2 nice ones and 3minute match with a really big one!!!

But first remember we have been having some nice Spring snow storms… well I fished one and got several nice rainbows, from my favorite lake…

No pictures of the fish but this is the scene that I got to drive through to get home…

Reverse angle

Here is the new fish truck Look for it to invade the lower latitudes this summer!!!

This is when the snow really set in.

Did not think I would see my boots like this for a long time!!!

My first River Brown…

and his bigger brother…

Close up

The fishing had been slow and I thought I messed up by picking up the shells, maybe they were there to remind folks to pick up and not to do this!!

so I took some scenic shots

Does anybody know what type of flower this is? I found them growing close to a rail bed…

I think I like this new me, slowing down and thinking things over!!!

Do not get the wrong idea , Canada especially Alberta is a beautiful place, only a very few Knuckle dragging mouth breathing morons with no respect for our and their environment. I will have them sorted out shortly!!!

Nice Browns! I really like that pic of the dogs on the river bank as well.

… Ray.

Not sure why, but a good number of the photos in your thread don’t come up on my computer. I do especially like one of those, however. The one that is titled …

“This is when the snow really set in.”

Talk about the ultimate whiteout !!!

And the brownout pics are pretty cool too.

John

Best of luck with the polluters. I fight that battle on my river also by trying to pick up a few pieces of trash at each stop. Some of it is unintentional such as hats and sandals knocked off rafters, that doesn’t really tick me off but the empty beer cans I just don’t understand. They managed to pack them in and were heavier when full, when empty they are lighter and can be crushed. Seemingly easier to pack out. I guess knuckle-dragging mouth breathers are an international phenomenon…

Beautiful pictures and wonderful trip!

Excellent post and pics. Thanks for sharing.

Hay all plse forgive me for not posting, fishing has been spotty due to weather and run off, and now my very bestest fishing partner Fischer has gotten real sick, acute renal failure, still not sure what the cause is, good news is that the vet says he may come home tomorrow night! My heart has been heavy and worried, I would loose my best friend.

I have not prayed or cried this hard since I was 8yrs old and was told my Mother had died… I have lived a blessed life and have a wonderful supporting family, I must never take them for granted and be thankful for every day!

Sorry to hear about your fishing buddy. I have missed your reports but it sounds like you have good reasons. Hope everything turns out well for you and your dog.

Get well soon Fischer.

Thanks things are looking better, I truly hope he gets home this evening!!!

It is hard to see him hooked up to IV and in a small kennel!

Hi all

It has been a while, fishing here has been spotty due to torrential rains and big run off. It has been especially hard for me for this last week because my best Fur friend in the world has been deathly ill, Fischer experienced “Acute Renal Failure” and the cause is unknown, truly one of life’s awful mysteries.

My self and the Vet have gone over every minute of the trip and can’t come up with a cause, the good news is that Fischer is home and resting comfortable now on the couch with Mother Ann, I am on top of the world now, but still must be careful and work for the rest of Fischer’s life to keep him healthy and safe.

I do have some pictures of what the fishing was shaping up to be, I will get back at it but and there is always a but only when Fischer is GTG = Good To Go.

The fish and scenery

Neat underside of the stonefly nymph I had never noticed before.

Water falls normally trickling or dry by now

FISH!!!

HEHE BIG FISH!!!

This is what Fischer should look like !

NOT LIKE THIS!

or this!

Thanks for staying tuned, I will have more reports as Fischer gets his fishing legs under him…

RGR AR

Alright! Glad to hear Fischer is getting better. It won’t be long and you guys will be out on the water again.

God loves dogs too. I’ll include Fischer in my prayers.
Hugs,
LF

That is true LF he must have heard my prayers, and as the quote goes if there are no dogs in heaven then I want to go where the dogs are! or something like that.

Thank you LF
