Source for non-toxic ball-end jigheads?

I used to be able to get lead-free jigheads down to 1/80/oz pretty easily, but now all I can find are the kind that have barbs for tube jigs and grubs. Anyone have any idea where standard ball-style jigheads can be found? I had pretty good success last season with nymphs tied on little jigheads, but we can’t use lead in YNP and the barbed/collared kind don’t look right.

Don’t know if the “Super Jig Heads” are lead free, but that information would be one phone call away. You’ve probably dealt with Feather Craft before and know that their customer service is outstanding.

P.S. Thanks for asking. I’ve been meaning to look around for some jig hooks, but didn’t bother until you asked.

Cannot help with a source of premade lead free micro jigs, but you can rig a reasonable alternative with 90 degree jig hooks (e.g Mustad 32833BLN) and slotted tungsten beads on the hook. Have used them side by side with lead headed jigs, and have not notice that much of a difference. YMMV.

Not sure if he makes them down that small - but what i have gotten from him has to be THE cleanest looking poured jigs i have ever seen. He also has lots of different hook options.

It looks like you should be able to find what you’re looking for here. http://www.yourbobbersdown.com/metallic.html They have non-lead jig heads down to .007 of an ounce on size 20 hooks.

The Super Jig Heads are lead. They are distributed Wapsi.

I use TMC C400BL jig hooks and a tungsten or brass bead, color of choice to tie jig style flies. I got the hooks from www.flyshop.com. Performance Flies also carry them.

Thanks for all the replies. Several good sources. I have done the jig hook and bead thing with Umpqua’s competition series hooks (regular beads work find, btw. No need for slotted), but I would honestly rather cut out the middleman and just use a pre-molded jig.
