I have been tying some Ausable Wulff’s using snowshoe rabbit fur and thought it might work on a caddis? Crazy colors happened to be handy
Byron, I’d clip some of that bottom hackle, and merrily catch loads of fish. And that wing color means I wouldn’t lose sight of it at dusk. Nice.

Thanks Chuck.
V notched that one after taking a photo.
This one could be an “Iris Caddis” or even a Spruce Moth?
Color in photo is off. Actually white. Must be color balance on camera.
byron,
instead of the hackle , try dubbing that area with a little dry fly dubbing to form a head. the amount of snowshoe your using for the wing will float this pattern like a cork.
a few years back i stopped in fran betters adirondack fly shop an older gentleman their, who was helping frans wife run the shop after his passing, introduced me to a patern he called, toms butter butt.
the basic pattern is a dubbed body, snowshoe wing and the hackle area dubbed to form a large, much like a caddis fly head
i tie them on 16-20 fine wire wide gap hooks, with an amber body, light dun wing and brown head.
try it, youll like it
Took a photo to get accurate color
That will work for any caddis or spruce or white miller or, or ,or just vary the hook size and colors… nice.
