Sometimes it is a shock...

to see something I wrote a while back quoted elsewhere.
But since the article is pretty good  here is a link to it: http://www.mammothtimes.com/articles/20 … obbery.txt

“Sometimes it is a shock…”

You should not be. You are an excellent and thought provocating writer.

Hi Deanna,

Refreshing to see an article I totally agree with
quoted in context and not having another writer
trying to add a different spin to it. Kudo’s to
both you and Mr. Rose. You present a sensible point of
view on a topic that we all need to consider and have an opinion on.G
Warm regards, Jim

I think what is great is that FAOL has many different flyfishers. I don’t think the snobs hang around on a website, they wouldn’t stoop that low.
Congratulations LadyFisher!
Doug

What Jim Hatch said.
Warm regards, Mark

PS: Lemon is for PIE!!!

Pass the lemon  and dang I must be a redneck

C+R almost all of my trout but salmon, whitefish and pike are another story.

Here is another twist. C&R is akin to torturing a fish for fun. Is this the standard that we strive towards?

At least if you catch and keep you are doing so to help put some food on your table.

Not sure that either side of C&R or C&K rises to the level of gospel.

It may be that in the late 1600’s only “aristocrats” could afford to purchase a book let alone read one. True, a man of means in those days was probably considered a “snob”. Walton writes in “The Compleat Angler”…“so heres to you a hearty draught, and to all that love us,and the honest art of angling” Any guy that can loft a mug of beer to a word of prose sounds kinda Red Neck to me? Anyway, the article bears some merit, my take is “Catch & Release Wild Trout”. There is nothing better than smoked trout over alder chips. Even if it is a stocker, still tastes good. Jonezee

Ha! Good on ya LF…it’s a surprise to most, I’m sure. It’s a pat on the back and we all appreciate those!

I nearly didn’t post…being British an’ all. ( you couldn’t tell. It’s been 45 yrs.) But since I’m someplace between the Average Joe and Larry the Cable Guy (going upwards on the scale now…) I feel O.K. (Hint: I mostly wear blue jeans…)

An interesting article and a pat on your back, for sure. I hope we shed the negative image before too long as it’s outdated.

And fer the record, I put all my trout back too. I don’t care for the taste of fish! I’ll do the burger/onions (or a peanut butter sammich w/milk!!) but that’s what makes all us elitist Brits such snobs G

Jeremy.

Does not surprise me one little bit! Congratulations LadyFisher!

Perhaps the idea of seeing somthing that you have written quoted elsewhere and being suprised just means that you do’nt think of your self as someone special. Kipling wrote (if I am getting it right) “If you can walk with Kings and not loose the common touch…”.
Perhaps you have’nt lost the common touch after all is said and done. That in it’s self is a blessing. 8)

Imagine that? An angler thats read Kipling.
