Not proud, but I skipped church to fish today. See, I recently built a 2 wt. that I haven’t had the time to fish. There’s a roadside ditch less than 5 minutes from here that would be a good place to try it out.
I spooked this guy, only to have him take the fly on the next cast. Ladies and gentlemen, the North Port Brook Trout (all sightcasted):

Jim, if you were going to south Florida for several days you would want to plan on fishing the ditches. I think they are burrow pits where they took dirt to build up the roads. The average elevation in south Florida is pretty low. But the fishing is great with everything from the native bass and bream to peacock bass, oscars and other tropicals fish that have been released by the citizenry. I know over in the Ft. Lauderdale area a “red berry” fly is good for grass carp, who eat berries that fall of the trees.

I saw it … that’s why I want a s’plinating as to what it REALLY is.
I think EdD made a common mistake and confused the fish with the South Louisiana Green Trout.
