Are they sponsers ???
Not sure, but should be! I am 300+ miles from the nearest fly shop and these guys are the only ones that will even visit with a guy.
The guys at Big R Fly Shop are a good crew. Check out their blog. It is updated regularly and usually has some current and useful info. Last night they were quite helpful at the Missouri River Flyfishers Film Festival, including organizing the “Iron Fly” competition. Not to mention they were very generous with schwag giveaways.
One other thing, check out the video on the Big R Fly Shop website of the Montana Mouthwash (in the streamer tying section)…Kris’ very unique dubbing loop technique using rabbit strips
Kris’s, Montana Mouthwash is a great pattern. Just order something from them once and they will remember you. Always throwing freebie’s in with orders (flies, caps, etc).
Does this really belong in the classifieds here? I am sure they are great guys, but they have their own site. Every post here about this commercial enterprise pushes those that are trying to sell a few items onto the next page.
Almost sounds like you have a shop yourself with all the items you have for sale. Could that be the case?
I enjoyed looking at their website, including the videos of thier various fly patterns. And, I also have enjoyed reading your prior posts, in addition to this one. However, I have to agree with steck that this post would have been better placed in a different section.
But, I got to ask a question: Where in the world in MT do you live that the nearest fly ship is 300+ miles away? MT is a BIG state, but THAT big?
On Friday, I sold a Ross Canyon reel that I had listed for sale here back in September 2009. It was so long ago that it took me about 30 minutes of paging through these ads to find it so I could look up how much I had been asking for the reel because I couldn’t remember!
p.s. to steck - Don’t miss my Sage rod for sale ad listed here – It’s the one just behind your for sale ad!
Yep, I am in the far NE corner of the state. The closest shop would be Big Horn Fly Shop. There are some places that may have a leader or some tippet in with their walleye jigs.

Thought the Big Horn shop was in the far southeastern part of Montana?
At least the one I’ve dropped more than a few dollars in is there.
Guess it is that far! Wow!
;)Hey, John, you asked $200 for that reel…took me about one minute to find your ad…I used to take all kinds of time looking for old posts…now I use the search function …it seems to be working better than it used to…yours was the sixth listed post…used Ross Canyon
Well Fort Smith is a long ways form far eastern MT by almost 200 miles. Most of us here in far eastern MT call the Horn as being in central MT. The shortest route to Smith for me is 314 miles. Anyways where else would you post this? The Big R site is of great info as well.

Well, now you tell me!
But I tried the search function before and it didn’t work, and tried again just now and I still didin’t find my post – I must be doing something wrong.
There actually might be something wrong with the search feature. I tried it just now as well as it wouldn’t work for me. And when I click “reset” it automatically fills in a user name whose posts I searched for a long time ago but now I can’t clear it.
Thank you for posting the link to the shop! I have it saved as in my favorites.
Once a poster has sold an item, one of we Admins will go in and delete the post. If it stays posted for 30 days it is auto pruned. So, If you search for some post made on the “Things For Sale” after it has been removed, I doubt if you will find it by searching as it no longer exists here on the FAOL BB…
Denny
Denny , I’m aware of that…so it is confusing as to why I could so easily pull up John’s 2009 post on 2-13-2011???
Duck,
I for one do not have a clue.
I am just happy things work as well as they do.
Have a good one.
