I havent tied in about5 years now…so these flys are even dusty!
Don’t you think it’s time you dusted off the vice and tools and got back into it. Besides keeping your box full of flies in the ready, tying is a great stress release not to mention as you know fun (and addictive).

Besides what I have in the little “daily” fly boxes…I have 2 large divided plastic boxes…with 26 compartments each…over half filled. The boxes measure 7 X 11 X 2 inches tall. I “filled” them…in anticipation of trips( and about that time I stop building rods) and the bride and I got sidetracked with RVing…traveling on vacation…and seeing this and that.
This resurgence came about because of my wife.
I wanted to buy ( and dont you dare laugh) an elephant gun! ( 416 Rigby) and she said if thats what I wanted then OK. I told her I could go to Africa and do some big game hunting with a “white hunter”…and she sorta just looked at me. I told her that I knew it would cost some $$ but whatever I shot I could send home and have mounted…(again a long stare)…and that I could put maybe an elephant head in the living room…and maybe and / or a buffalo in the family room…etc.
In a clear voice she stated…AINT NO HOUSE I LIVE IN…IS GOING TO HAVE DEAD ANIMAL HEADS HANGIN ON THE WALLS ( end of discussion…:D)
So I told her then ( thinking Id get the upper hand and last argument) Well then…I’ll just spend that money on more fly fishing guided trips then…HA!
Her reply… Get on the phone big guy and get them booked! ( She enjoys fly fishing also)…(drats!)…
What? The RV can’t get close to a fishing hole? Tell that woman who’s boss! When you get done, ask the boss if you can do some fishing on the next trip.
Last year we went to the Alamo…etc. Not too many trout streams close by…lol.
Id lay the law down to her but one small problem. I retire close to 6 years ago…and I made a pretty good salary…and there is just the 2 of us. She still works and has …maybe…3 more years to go before she can get free…and already she makes THREE TIMES what I did when I retired…:eek:
So maybe…MAYBE I’ll toe the mark for a while…S

Lucky us - we pack up the RV and head up to the mountains and fish all summer till it’s cool enough to enjoy the warm country again.
What?? Stay somewhere that doesnt have a HOT TUB???..LMAO We park places that give us “full access” to most things…whether it be a grocery store or cable TV…and then use the Jeep for the running around stuff.
Its our rolling condo that I drive. After seeing actual condo prices in places like Jackson Hole…etc…etc…I figured a MoHo regardless of what it might set us back would be more enjoyable…and it has been
