So long girl, we'll miss you

Well yesterday pretty well sucked as I had to have my Lab put down. The back legs were going and I was having to help her get up the stairs, and I wasn’t going to let it get any worse. She just turned 18 in Aug and except for the legs she was in great shape. As bad as it hurts for me, I know she’s in a better place. See ya Girl, you made our lives better by owning us!!!

Please let me offer my condolences to you. All of our dogs have been members of the family. It has been long years since we lost Lady, but I can still remember her walking up beside my recliner and rooting my forearm up with her nose so that I would pet her.

Look at that beautiful face, and those trusting eyes. She trusted you to do what was right for her, and you did. Hard, but right.
Hugs.

Fatman, I feel it for you. We went through it at the beginning of summer and it was, and still is, hard. Eighteen is a lot of years for a black lab, and yet no where near enough. You did the right thing, though.

Sorry to hear that fatman… 18 yrs is a very good long life and it sounds like she was well loved in those 18 yrs.

Steve

Fatman,

I want to offer my condolences. This may have been the worst summer of my life. Had to put my 2 dogs to sleep and it was very difficult, but necessary. My 13 year old Rottie was similarly afflicted. I know I did the right thing and I know you did too.

So very sad to hear of this but you did the right thing. Right now I am sitting here beside you with my arm around your shoulders saying a prayer for you and your loyal companion.

I have a couple of furry kids waiting for me here http://petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm My furry kids are special to me, and it hurts to lose one!
Steve

My condolences on the loss of your dog. I’m sitting here with my two, a 5 year old Doberman Pinscher and 2 year old Bouvier des Flandres. They’re special creatures.

Thanks all. The worst part was having to tell my grand daughter puppy was gone, but she understood and is okay now. Steve I’d seen rainbow bridge before and it still tears me up!!!

Humans could learn a thing or two about unconditional love from dogs.
I feel your pain.

Len

You were lucky to have her for 18 years. We had to have our black lab Molly put to sleep for the same thing and also because she was loosing control of her bowls. She was 12 1/2. My heart still aches.

Len, if you are not right about anything else all week you got that one dead on. Some of us old guys may remember a ballad by Tom T. Hall that had a chorus to the effect “There’s just three things the the world you can count, old dogs and children and watermelon wine.” Never had any watermelon wine but dogs and small children will love you when no one else does.

Another line from Tom T. Hall’s song, ‘‘Old dogs love you, even when you make mistakes, God Bless the children, while they’re still too young to hate.’’ Great line from a great song and makes a lot of sense. Y’all take care, John.
