Snowshoe Wulff

Enamored with the Snowshoe Hare and the Ausable Wulff.
Even though Betters said the tail should be a little long, I think this is too long?

Byron, I love tying with snowshoe too. That’s a great looking Wulff right there, although I think your right about the tail. Here on my home creek in NY our Trico’s have very long tails, twice the hook length and I just can’t get use to tying them that long, they just don’t look right to me. BUT, the fish love them as they look just like the naturals. Fran must have had a good reason for making them that way. Anyway enjoying your posts, Doug.

Then it is! Thats the answer, I think, to all the questions about proportion. If it isn’t right in your eye, it isn’t right.

If you are on the water and that fly with, say another five with the tail as you like them, in your fly box which ones will you fish? If you are forced, say through loosing the other five, to fish that one, will you fish it with as much confidence? I doubt it.

Thats a great looking pattern. The snowshoe looks right in it.What is the tailing material?

Cheers,
C.
