Snowshoe shipment from AK has arrived - Hap and Allan

Hap,

Thank you for your generous shipment of snowshoe rabbit feet directly from the land of the snowshoes.

Hap and Allan:
Not sure what the explanation is.
These look just like the ones I ordered from BRF. I recall your concern that the hair I used previously had some black tips.
This is a closeup of one of the ones I received today:

Would they be black tips or summer hair that has not been shed yet? Your photos showed hair with black tips…

You should be good to walk on snow the next time it snows there in Hawaii!

Byron,

I don’t recall writing anything about black tips insofar as snowshoe rabbit was concerned. I wrote about black tips relating to coastal deer hair.

Allan

Allan,
Hap mentioned the non-existence of dark tips on snowshoe rabbit feet hair - not you:
From the original post of a fly I made:

Hap:
"And that confuses me even more… I just went through at least a hundred feet without finding a single hair with dark tip.

As you can see in your photo the desired, crinkly hair is on the bottom. Your fly photos look like smooth, black-tipped hair and it does not show up on your foot. Without your phoot photo I could not see the hair source as snowshoe. With your photo I am still wondering where on the foot the hair came from?"

If I remember correctly from my hunting days that black in the foot is the nature of the hare.

I have some of those nice feet!!! and great material!!! If you ever need to get rid of any more I’ll be more than willing to add some more.

Way better than anything I’ve seen in a store.

I am so jealous! I haven’t been able to get any natural or cream feet for over a year. that closeup looks like perfect snowshoe hair
