Snake Bite - 3 weeks . . .

It’s been almost 3 weeks . . . Wow this has been an experience. I am now off crutches, walking almost normally, there is still swelling in my foot. Have to put shoe on that foot loose. But I am almost thinking about going fishing again. . . . The good news is I did’nt lose the toe, or suffer any long lasting damage that I can tell!!

I am gonna buy some new warm water wading shoes/boots !

I think the next fishing I’ll do will be in Colorado in a couple weeks! Planning on hitting some place in Rocky National Park! I may have to do something locally in the next week to get out. Maybe some local Carp. My 9 wt is still a virgin :slight_smile:

Stay away from those snakes !

Wayne -

Did you take any pics of the bite area, I mean Day-to-day?

I once saw a bite from a brown recluse spider, where the man took pics of his hand from day-to-day, and to say the least IT WAS NASTY!

we’re all rootin’ for ya. hang in there!!

No, there is not that much to see regarding he bite area. I do have pictures of my swollen foot every couple days.

Decided to head out and chase some carp this afternoon. Got to the stream where we usually try to catch them and found lots of overgrown brush along the bank. Got down to the water and found tons of grass/weeds grown up in the stream. On the way down to the water, I saw a snake and about turned around then :slight_smile: . . . Picked through the weeds part way, and found the creek was up more than it looked. Decided to go home and tie flies or something. I had another 50 yards of water/weeds/grass to wade through and was by my self. . . . . Need to find somewhere else :slight_smile:

I was crawling almost on my hands and knees one time on the Deschutes and came across this sign deep in the brush …and later saw others…essentially saying…“Rattlesnake protection area …do not disturb the snakes”…and some other bureaucratic gobbledygook…{my spellcheck recognized this word :shock:}

A lot of things go through your mind at a time like that…like…

You gotta be kidding…

What are you doing with my tax dollars…

Whose protecting me from them…

Etc…

Hey Wayne,

Glad to hear that you are doing so well. I think that most of us understand why you decided to for go that last fifty feet of brush and head home. Did you ever mention what kind of snake it was that bit you and how big it was? 8T :smiley:

I never saw the snake. But I and others think it was a Cottonmouth. Not sure how big, but the fang marks were about 1/4 to 3/8" apart.
