smooth as glass

Not only are some of those older glass rods sweet and smooth, but so are the newer rods being put out by people like Mike McFarland & Mark Steffen. I have a Steffen 8’ 5/6 and it is the closest thing to perfection I’ve ever cast…it’s right up there with my bamboo.

And I have the Hardy ‘Perfection’. 8)

Braggard

I just won two more on ebay I cant wait to get them. I also forgot to metion the old Lamiglass s-glass blank I will turn into my first building project. that will be a total of 6 glass rods to enjoy. It sounds like we might need to do a fiberglass fish-in; or several for that matter.

Have you spoke to Mark Steffen. He does roll his own s-glass blanks and possibly could make a spey blank if he already doesn’t.

I have no idea if that is in your price range though.

Thanks for the tip it looks lik they are more into creek sticks but they make some great looking rods. I will bookmark them for a future purchase.

I have gone glass also. I recently have acquired a 6’6" 5wt custom Phillipson that is probably the sweetest casting rod I have ever used. Also a Wright and McGill Sweetheart 71/2 ft 5 wt restored, and my latest is a Vince Cummings custom Fenwick 7 1/2 ft 5 wt. I certainly have enjoyed fishing glass this year and it sure waxes nostalgia from the time I was a kid. Yes sir, glass has class.
