Smart Cast by Humminbird

Has anyone used this equipment for locating Panfish? How did it perform and what type of receiver did you use. Is this technology better than the fixed type or suction cup portable. Thanks

Tom,
I have one that I liked very well when I was fishing ponds often. It is not like using one in a boat, of course, and it’s most valuable use to me was identifying depth and invisible structure. As for finding fish to cast at, well, it does that, yes, but it was best for mapping out drop offs, weed beds, brush, sunkens, etc.

Best,
RS

I like mine also and have used it to locate fish and structure. I have the full screen model not the wrist watch style or the rod clip on. The nice thing is you can locate fish from a stationary position by simply casting about until you locate them instead of paddling/rowing/motoring all over. I got the “A” & “B” channel transponders with mine. It will locate fish, it just won’t catch them!!
I think it is on the same level as fixed type transponders.

I feel more like I do now than I did when I got here!

I used my boat electronics to find 6 foot humps on my bluegill lakes and dropoffs for pike and musky. Now with GPS I go right to those favorite spots.
