Smallie fishing and boat dragging...

A couple buddies and I raided the New River in NC and VA yesterday in hopes of tagging some smallies.

Though the fish weren’t in the bitingest of moods, we got into 'em fairly good.

The river was low and going slow at times. Read that, we gotta row through THAT?:

Through hours of laborious tedium (yeah, I wrote that!) we did find a few moments of excitement:

Coozies… Koozies… err… uh… That other guys nice bass:

One of mine, thanks much for the flies Mr. Anthony Hipps!:

No pics of this guys fish, but anyone who knows him knows he vacuumed 'em up all along the float!
Huntin’ and stalking:

It was a long day for sure, not helped by the low water but shirtsleeve weather, zero boat trraffic (probably for good reason), happy, dumb fish and good company leaves me yearning for more (when the muscle aches and calluses go away that is!)!

I’m not picking I’m just curious. I have always heard this “shirtsleeve” term. What does that actually mean? Does it mean longsleeeve? Does it mean shortsleeve? Does it mean longsleeve rolled up? Does it just mean wearing just a shirt of any kind and no jacket?

I take it to mean that a jacket isn’t required.
I’m probably wrong but that’s what I meant in the post above.
Going through the mountains outside of Sparta Saturday morning the temp read 53 degrees. All day during the float a shortsleeve shirt was perfect.

Nice photos! Made me wish I had been there.

That absolutely looks like a great time.

I miss Virginia, and I’ve only been there once.
