The smallest reel that I have found, and I mean a “real” reel that can be fished, not a novelty reel is this one

rrhyne56,
I have one of those for my TFO 6 foot, 2-weight and it works fine. I wouldn’t believe that you’re going to be getting many fish into your backing for the size rod you’re probably going to use it on, so I recommend it. I don’t think I would use it to catch tarpon, but it was the smallest and lightest I could find at the time, too. I like mine.

Yeppers, I have a one weight Clear Fork that with the one weight Orvis line on it. Want to get a small reel for the two weight line I have as well. Right now that two weight line is on a big old honking 0 Cahill reel
Sure do

I have both the Avon and Ariel reels by J. Austin Forbes, 3-5 weight. They arent the micro-reels your looking for, but I can attest to the overall quality and it is excellent.
Those Austin Forbes reels are good looking stuff, high quality I am certain. I will likely have to pass on them simply due to justifiable expenditure issues at home
Any other fly weight reels?
Actually the Forbes reels are sold almost exclusively online at Ebay now. I have seen several of their small line-weight models (zero thru 3 weight) on there at almost a 50% discount to the price listed on their website…so they may be in your price range after all??
I’ll have to have a look!
thanks
This is my smallest, but I like the look of that reel you posted.

My smallest is a Godfrey Bi-Metal 212. It’s 2.1" in diameter, and is designed to hold a 2wt line and a little backing. It is a gear & pawl design, with a 5-point adjustable drag that’s extremely smooth.
Reel has nickel-silver sideplates, brass frame. Beautifully finished. Not a lightweight at 4.5 oz. (actual), but just right for bamboo rods, as the maker intends.
On my 6’3" 3wt I use a Hobbs Creek HC-1. It is an all metal reel. It is larger than what you described but it is small. It has a super smooth Drag, it is a Large Arbor. With out line it weaighs 4.8 oz, with WF3F line and 100 yrds of 20# Magibraid backing it weighs 6 oz, it is 2 13/16 inches in diameter. It is just $39.99. Spare spools just $19.99. May not be what you are looking for, but I thoght I would mention it. It does balance with my rod perfectly. Just my 2 cents. John
Have a look here if you want SMALL.
Here is one currently on eBay. I could get interesed in this one. I have a two weight I want to match and I want to keep it as cheap as possible.
Well if cash isn’t an issue I’d go with the three I have:
An older CFO II at 2-9/16" and 2 oz
A Hardy Flyweight at 2-1/2 and 2.75 oz
A Hardy St. George Junior at 2-9/16" and 3.5 oz
RW here,
I use the Hardy Flyweight on my one-weight rod. I got mine for $100 a few years back. This year Hardy raised the retail price to $285. I think that was about a $50 or $60 jump from last year.

RW:
Look again at the price; they are now $450!!!
Boozle, RW here
I went to the Hardy website and you are right. Unbeievable!! A spare spool now costs $200. These reels are increasing in price faster than the price of gasoline. Glad I got mine and the spare spool when I did. They are sweet little reels, and as advertised, they run smoother and smoother with age.

RW:
I managed to snag a Featherweight last year before a $100+ increase went into effect. It sorta teed me off because I always considered the Lightweight Series as the last “affordable” Hardy’s; not any more!
I guess the only good news is that my reels have appreciated…appreciably!
The bad news is I know of three dealers that dropped the line because of slow sales due to the cost.
