Small Western Green Drake

I was tying some of these yesterday. I sent this photo to a fishing buddy of mine and he thinks the color is not “yellow/olive” enough.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Byron

Byron -

I agree with your friend, kind of.

Maybe the “small” Western Green Drakes are different than what I think of as Western Green Drakes, but the ones I see around here are pretty dark, more in the brown olive tones than the green olive tones. And I’m including the ones I used to match down on Big Elk Creek in SE Idaho, which is not all that far from where you’re headed.

John

John,
Should not be much diff between Green Drake and the Flav which is the Small Western Green Drake.
Sometimes, when the Flavs are coming off, there will be either brown or gray drakes about too.

John was kind enough to point out that my post above might be misinterpreted. When I mention brown drakes, and gray drakes being about when the Flavs are on the water, I meant that the colors I selected with the fly posted above was an attempt to try to come up with a “universal” color to cover those situations.

Less “universal” of a Drake pattern.
