Tying some #18 CDC/Deer Hair BWO duns. Gotta tone down the dubbing a little more though.
Byron; Can,t see much wrong with the dubbing. The proportions seem pretty good to me.
A slightly thinner body may please some tyers, But I don’t think the trout will mind much. Have Fun. jax

Why are you going with CDC and Deer hair? It would seem to make bulk unavoidable.
I just like the floatabiity of the CDC and the definition the deer hair provides.
I like biots if I’m looking for a slim body. Actually, I like biots for a majority of my mayfly dries; they’re easy and I’m lazy (and a lousy dubber).

Just a reminder - for size 18 and smaller flies, if you use CDL tailing you can use the same fibers for a nice slim abdomen.
Just a reminder - if you use CDL fibers for the tailing, you can use them to form a slim abdomen. Follow the link for a BWO parachute as an example. But you could tie any style of fly ( comparadun, traditional hackling, thorax ) using this technique. Personally, I think this approach is easier than using biots, which I also happen to like.

The dubbing job is better than I could do on a size 18, I think, and I like the CDC and deer hair idea. It’s different, and while I likely wouldn’t have thought to do that, I like the new idea and will have to try tying some dries up with both. Thanks for a new idea to try out!
