small poppers for 3wt

greetings and good fishing to all,

does anyone know an outlet for very small poppers such as sneaky petes, dixie devils etc.

I’ve had no luck with my few floaters, madame X’s and some foam critters presented with my 3wt.

maybe a little noise and ripple action will entice the local bullgill, bass and crappie to strike.

I’ve found nothing very small at bluecafefly’s or others. I’m thinking size 10 and smaller.

also i do not have fly tying equipment and must buy all my flies.

thanks for any information.

Hey TWS,

Here in SC, our Walmart stores carry a
fair selection of small gill poppers. The
leggy kritters are quite effective on our
waters. Fair prices too. Warm regards, Jim

There are a number of online sources of panfish poppers in sizes down to #12.

TWS,

If you tie, I would recommend tying up some smaller Gurgle Pops. The pattern is in the 4th quarter 2003 archives. Simple, inexpensive, very effective fly (meets all of my unsophisticated requirements). I have been having good success with a size 8 for bass, but have tied 10s and 12s for gills.
