Who here ties up a mean Slumpbuster? I am planning on tying some up. Will a Mustad 3366 be about the right shape for this fly?
I use either a Mustad 9671 or Dai Riki 730; guess the 3366 would work but the down eye hook gives a good jigging action…

Scott
3366 is the “Clouser hook”… Straight eye, about 2x long, with a sproat bend I believe. I think you’re thinking of the 3399 with turned down eye!

I meant to say that the turned down eye on the 9671 or 730 would provide the jigging action - sorry for the confusion. 3366 is what I use on my freshwater Clousers (although the original Clouser was tied on a Mustad 3906B).

charlie craven uses a tmc 5262 in this tutorial but anything similar should be OK

Great pattern! I tie mine with the Mustad R74 Streamer hook (down eye). But any hook you would normally tie a wooly-bugger on works fine. I tie my Swampbusters with 2 changes. I use a black cone-head. And I add 3-4strands of red Crystal flash tied in at the throat, and extend them ot the hook point.
