I think you were in on the past conversation Cabelas ought to come out west and someone said they are …only in Utah.
I was told by a shop owner up here that Cabelas is going to build a big store at the new arena in Glendale in the sports arena! I presume that is some new arena for football team. Don’t know iffen it’s true but a sporting shop person told me that.
Yup, Cabela’s took my advice (I’m still waiting for the consultant’s honorariam of course) and decided to come to the Valley of the Sun. I understand they are building a multi gazillion dollar emporiam out on the West side of Phoenix near the new Cardinal’s stadium in Glendale, AZ. Actually, there’ll probably be more high level sporting activity in the Cabela’s store than in the new Arizona Cardinal’s stadium. Funny, Glendale also scored a new ice hockey arena for the Glendale (nee Phoenix) Coyotes just in time to watch the NHL go on strike.
As for me, Cabela’s will still be on the “other side of the world” about 55 miles away. Actually, it was smart of them 'cause they’ll draw from the LA croud which is about 5 hours away at 80 mph.
But don’t dispair ST, Sportsman’s Warehouse must have been tuned in too ‘cause they decided to build a new store only 0.7 mile from my tying bench in my home. So, should I run out of hooks, just jump in the ol’ trusty Volvo Station Wagon (can’t walk over in the 115 degree heat, I’d melt) and chug on over.
PLJ et. al., when you’re gonna be in the neighborhood, give me a shout, the fridge in the garage is well stocked.
Snow on the roof but with fire still in the hearth
Thanks for the invite Silvertop. I will take you up on that. I just finished tieing my dozen flies for Al’s Memoriam. I haven’t tied before but got a couple lessons back in January. You’s guys make it look too easy. I spent two days trying to turn out 12 and I am not too proud of their quality. But it’s the best I can do and I am going to send them off. ( I actually think I tied 22 to get 12)
According to Cabelas web site they are in negtiations to build stores in the next one to two years in Reno Nevada, Wheat Ridge Colorado, Glendale Arizona, and Lehi Utah.
According to a rep at Sidney I talked to on Sunday the 3rd, Lehi Utah opens this fall,
Ariz.,Colo., and Nev stores should open by 2007 at the latest. He also told me that they are looking to put one in Wyo. somewhere on I-80 in the western half. My wife didn’t cringe, she said good, we won’t have to drive as far!
