The way they came.

Its not worth being disappointed later by losing a fish to a broken hook. I’ve had a few really bad hooks out of a package…I just toss 'em. Its a bummer for sure, but in the end, its a little thing.
Only if you are willing to risk loosing the fish of a lifetime because the hook breaks. Other than that, I’d toss them.

One thing that you may want to consider is saving them to use with your fly tying. I would see a use if you cut the hook off above the bend and perhaps using the hook shanks by securely tying it to the shank of another hook so that the eye extends out the back of the pattern. See attached graphic. Then, you could easily attach dropper patterns when you wanted to. Just a thought…
Shoot Rick,
Those are the kind of hooks I tie my “buddies” flies on!

…of course you must know that the flies they tie on those hooks are the only ones they give to you to use when you’re out fishing together;)

James,
You and I must have fished together in a past lifetime!
