It’s getting close to the time for shad to reach Virginia. Where are they? Anybody know?
I consider the yearly unveiling of Shadcam and the painting of the rowboats at Fletchers as the official start of the season; of course they usually hit the James River before they get up here on the Potomac but that’s beside the point. I’m hoping 3 weeks.

On the Delaware we typically see them just as the dogwood trees are coming into bloom. My guess three more weeks give or take what the shad think.

It typically gets good here in NCalif the week before Memorial Day. You can get them earlier but usually peaks between Memorial Day and 4th of July.
