I would rather take up body piercing with #4 SW circle Shark hooks…
or wait until the day after opening day…

Tell me: Did some security firm spill a few sacks of Currency worth millions into the river?
Claustrophobia springs to mind. Makes me appreciate what we have in New Zealand. Jax
Seems like a perfect place to try out my RC boat and run it right down the middle engine on full eh??
No seriously though… Wow I don’t think I’d ever be interested in that. Reminds me of the times i was a little kid and tagged along with my parents to the camping/boat show and could fish the water tank for trout. Heh

yeh. California does. also makes you do their research for them by filling out punchcards for Steelhead and Salmon.
Folks that is March 1st at the opening whistle of the keep season at Bennett Spring state park. I fish there in the winter during C&R and it is nowhere near that crowded. Its not usually that crowded about 2 hours after the whistle.
It is! It is!! Good ole Bennett Spring!! Ahhh … opening day in the Trout parks!! We fish Bennett, NOT however on opening day … catch and release winter fishing is pretty good, but even off times fishing can be elbow to elbow. Shows you why I like South Dakota and Wyoming!!
My word!! They look like little tin soldiers, all in perfect little rows, evenly spaced! Going into battle with the trout. They must have an agreed upon protocol that makes this work. What happens when a couple of fish get caught at the same time? Make a Zweber wind knot look like a neatly rolled ball of twine! (Sorry Z, couldn’t resist!)

Whistle ?? Did the man say “whistle” ??
Yes, John … a whistle. A big, honkin’ whistle, like a noon whistle at a production plant!!! It blows at starting time (varies by season), and again at the end of the day (again varies by season). Woe be unto you if you are caught fishing before or after the whistle!!!
Imagine catching a running carp in there!!!
lol…lol…lmao
Where is the pic? I can’t see it?!?
??? No he isnt. He’s PRAYING that he dont get hooked in the side of his head…
what pic are you talking about? I’m with huing on this.
Don’t know if this was the original pic or not but I would suggest this is very similar if not the same.http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/12308227.jpg We have some gear fishing areas around NW Wa that look the same when the salmon are running. The Skagit had over 2 million pinks this year and every place you looked was a fisherman on the bank and a boat on the water. No place left where someone could wet a line. Fun to watch. The boat launches are an endless supply of entertainment.http://www.goskagit.com/article_images/9-22-ST-Fishing-1.jpg
Kerry,
That looks like the same pic to me. Someone mentioned a spey rod. In situations like that, swinging a 15 foot rod around with 50 or so feet of line out and a 2/0 salmon hook on the end gets you plenty of elbow room.

cool photo but no way I’d fish there, that’s just waiting for a hook in the anatomy problem!!!

Here’s a pic of the Samish River (a few minutes from my house) when the Chinook are running. Ron, try a 2 hander in this mess; http://www.goskagit.com/article_images/9-12-Samish-Fishing_05.jpg
There is a spot on the Rogue River in Oregon called Casey Park. At the ramp there is a nice run where the anglers chase salmon with casting gear, two ounce lead weights and corkies. There is usually only 8 or 10 anglers and they all line up several feet apart and fish in turn. The bottom angler cast to the head of the hole and starts his drift followed by the next to bottom angler and so on. Tangles are still common and when someone hooks a fish all the others stop fishing and tell the guy how to fight the fish.
My neighbor loves to go there and fish. He is elderly & his wife doesn’t want him to go by himself so I accompany him several times during the season. He can’t understand why I take a book & read instead of fishing. It is well worth the trip just to watch the antics of the anglers.
When I was in Alaska in the late 60’s a fellow asked me to go to the Russian River with him after red salmon. The posted pictures remined me of that scenerio. Didn’t fish there either.

In know exactly where you’re talking about.
This one is definitely from MO, but you’re pretty accurate in its resemblance to Kingston on opening morning.
Without the dam, it’d also be a fair imitation of the mouth of any PA Erie trib in mid-October.
