September harvest moon

Shine On, Harvest Moon

The night was mighty dark so you could hardly see,
For the moon refused to shine.
Couple sitting underneath a willow tree,
For love they did pine.
Little maid was kinda 'fraid of darkness
So she said, “I guess I’ll go.”
Boy began to sigh, looked up at the sky,
And told the moon his little tale of woe

Oh, Shine on, shine on, harvest moon
Up in the sky;
I ain’t had no lovin’
Since January, February, June or July.
Snow time ain’t no time to stay
Outdoors and spoon;
So shine on, shine on, harvest moon,
For me and my gal.

WOW!!! Did you SEE that moon last night!!! Beautiful!!!

There is a little smoke haze here, 'tho the wind yesterday seemed to move most of it out, so the most beautiful harvest moon was in its full glory at our altitude of 4,650 ft in Livingston MT.

We were driving home about 10 last night. I had my camera in the car so I stopped and took some pics of that big ol’ moon. Will try to get some tonight while it’s rising. It is really pretty out here in the desert skies. Reminds me of that Marshall Tucker tune. “Desert Skies”.

Steve,
It’s probably a very sad reality that this song will die with us who still remember it’s lyrics. Thanks for the reminder and a stir of imagination.
