Would this be the same or similar stuff?..10 bucks for 50 yards is a little bit of overkill…at least for my uses…

yup i would think so
Duckster,
That’s what I use. Works fine so far. Takes markers well.

It is nice to have friends that when you (myself) have been talking about the commercially available scud back material, and how it is so expensive for a few strands of some gel formed strips. This friend sends me some PARAFILM “M” LABORATORY FILM, Pechiney Plastic Packaging (Chicago, IL 60631).
I can cut it to any width I want, and my Sharpie Pens, work on it, with not rubbing off. just two 4" x 9" sheets are enough to last me a long time.
It is nice when friends remember their Swapmeister.
Thank Bob!

I thought it said 5 yards, not 50.
Kel,
I buy mine five yards at a time from JoAnnes (Ducksterman’s link). The guy in Normand’s link got 50 yards of it. Not that it’s not cheaper that way, just that I tie hundreds of flies a month and it would still take me many years to go through 50 yards of this stuff.

Thanks Norm and Ducksterman; this was just what I was looking for.
Parafilm is alright but it’s not elastic like scud back and not very durable if you stretch it. Unstretched though I guess it would be alright but it’s kind of cool stuff to work with.
