Scottish Independence Referendum

As I post this, it is now just after midnight Thursday morning in Scotland. Today the Scots will vote on whether or not to seek independence from the UK. (I am NOT asking for opinions or how people intend to vote.) I am posting to say that regardless of the outcome of the vote, I hope that all of our friends in the British Isles remain friends and are able to cooperate together cordially.

Warm regards to all of our friends in Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Sincerely,
Ed

Ed, no reason not too. After all, we declared our independence and we get along with the Brits just fine.

Except that pesky little thing called the War of 1812…

There is also the fact that they talk funny… They should just speak plain English! :stuck_out_tongue:

And Ed,
You omitted “our friends” in the Republic of Ireland. Their struggle to gain independence form Great Britain/ Northern Ireland shed rivers of blood and fostered many heros for both sides. If you have a moment, go to youtube and enter “Grace” by Anthony Kearns a song about a hero of the Republic
I do hope this vote, regardless of outcome, passes as voting outcomes are meant to pass. ( LIke here in the US after the last two elections :>))

Mark

Thanks Marco !

I hope you all stocked up as they say the price of Scotch will go up significantly if they go independent.
Just sayin’.

Which is why the Bourbon Trail is such a hit. Good luck and best wishes to our friends in England, Scotland and Wales.

Ed D,
Onaccounta my age, it JUST occurred to me that you “omitted” the Republic because it had nothing to do with the UNITED Kingdom in the context of current events. Please forgive the post/comment.

Mark

So we’ll just have to drink Irish Whiskey !

No problems, Marco. On the other hand, if you want to do penance I suggest that you go out with a fly rod and try to exercise a few fish.

Regards,
Ed

As for the “Irish Whiskey” connection, we have some “Murphy” in our bloodline, along with some Belgian, Danish, and Polish Ancestral connections.
