SCAMMERS

I just watch a short news program of a Doctor in California that was scammed out of his life savings, which was $300,000 dollars.
It proves that if we ever show any weakness or let down our guard, even ONE time, we will be sorry.
The scammers were Nigerians, you know the ones that start out their E-Mail with Dearly Beloved One.

If he fell for that I also would question his abilities as a physician

Shock,

Maybe the story about that doctor was a scam so that sympathetic people can be scammed into helping him/her out. Now maybe some will feel sorry for this doctor if the story plays out to be true. Just remember, he/she was scammed trying to get something that wasn’t deserved. In short the doctor got scammed, scamming someone who was a better scammer.

H.

On the local radio today they warned people that scammers were sending out phoney bills to area businesses asking for payments due for Mateials that were neither ordered nor sent. Several business apparently paid the bills without checking to see if they were legitimate.

The elderly were also a target for this scam.

ducksterman sure got that right. glad he wasn’t my doc.

Hendrickson,
"Maybe the story about the Doctor was a SCAM?
What if it was a Scam? Most everything on TV is a SHAM!
“Maybe some will feel sorry for the Doctor”?
His MOTHER?
The Doctor was scammed trying to get something he didn’t deserve?
Is it a lot different gambling all of your money away?
What amazed me about the story is that the Doctor had the nerve to do a story about how he was duped.
One of the Scammers started crying  when the cameras came into the room, poor guy.
I think it’s great that we can lose $300,000 in the comfort of our own home and not have to warm the car up to go to the casino!
By the way, The Doctor is a SURGEON!, isn’t that happy news!

I watched that story. Just shows there is no limit to the stupidity, or the greed, of some people-

I didn’t feel a BIT sorry for him.

I also watched that show and it made me realize how greedy anyone can be. A man was smart enough save $300,000, but as soon as he heard about making a lot more he gave up all his senses was ripped off. The men and women doing the scamming are just as bad. They see a quick buck and get lured in just as easily. What a shame, what a shame.

I feel sorry for the doc. I also feel sorry for those that don’t feel sorry for the doc. Life without compassion is indeed a sad life. At least be grateful that you have not ever been scammed for anything in your life, not once. You are a lot smarter then most.

Kerry, your brush is overly broad. It’s an easy matter for some of us to have compassion while also seeing humor and/or passing judgement. Every parent, teacher, and AA sponsor has had this experience. I don’t see any indication that the responders to this thread lack compassion. They (we) were being judgemental, as are you. Not the same thing. I guess the bottom line to this post is: don’t bother feeling sorry for us. We don’t need it.

The point of this post is to caution people to not trust people who say they will make you rich.
There are people that have systems for taking or stealing our money. They see the big picture and we fall for it or get sucked into it.
Who is going to help us when someone rips us off?
We GAVE the scammer our account info!
I’m not a expert on investing, but don’t jump into schemes. Be patient and do research.
Doug

Excuse me.

…and besides, the Doc ammended his income taxes over the next three years and broke even or came out way ahead. Not only that, whoever heard of a Doc who’s life savings was a mere 300k? Well unless it’s Doogie Howser and he only had a part time gig on TV…anyway… :))

Cheerup !

I watched a detailed show about the Nigerian Scammers. It seems that Scamming Americans is against the law in Nigeria. Some of the Nigerian citizens think the best Scammers are HEROES!
I was surprised!, one Scammer talked to a U.S. citizen on the phone and detailed how they wanted $4,500.00, in CASH. I always thought they wired the money to the Scammers in Nigeria, but no, this Scammer instructed the U.S. citizen to cut the inside out of of book and put the cash inside, wrap it and send it through DHL. This was a STING to scam the Scammer, so NBC put monopoly money in the book and flew to Nigeria along with the book. NBC and the Nigerian Police followed the book right to the Scammers and they were arrested. I have the feeling this cooperation was just for show, to make it look like the Nigerian Government was trying to abolish scamming. Anyway, as long as people in the United States of America continue to NOT delete the SCAM E-Mails, the more HEROES will be made in Nigeria.
