Sault St. Marie steelhead

This trip was in the spring of 2018. I meant to post it last year but never got around to it. The plan was to go to the Sault rapids
for one day and then go north along Superior and hit some of the rivers.

Fishing at the Sault was good. There would be almost too many people at times but not too bad. We ended up fishing there for two days.
The fishing was quite good but the fishing area is somewhat limited because the river side of the concrete wall was way too high to fish.

We did alright for a couple of old gizzards…or is that geezers:confused:

You can tell by the way we were dressed that it was fairly warm.

We left the Sault and went north. Unfortunately the rivers had warmed up way quicker than we thought they would. There were no steelhead
to be found but we did manage a few specks at the Sand River about 1 1/2 hours north of Sault St. Marie.

This might be one reason black woolly buggers work so well

Since the water was so warm we cut the trip short. We also developed a leak in the roof of the truck camper and rain was in the forecast for a couple of days.

Some good looking fish! Looks like a fun trip!
