There’s a 20-inch bass in a local public pond I occasionally fish that has a very distinguishing characteristic…a big split in its pectoral fin.
I’ve caught her while flyfishing 3 times this year, the most recent being last night on a blockhead-style popper.

Here you can see the fin:

Dave,
Has she invited you home to meet her folks? I mean you’ve taken her out three times. In some places the preacher would start smiling at you when you head thru the reception line after the service.
I have seen her follow me around the pond a couple of times this year. Maybe she always does, and I just don’t see her? When I’ve seen her, I can’t get her to strike anything, but she will follow and chase after any panfish or small bass I happen to hook.
Wow, that is a poster child advertisement for catch and release if I’ve ever seen one!
Hopefully she isn’t so gullible for some other “kitchen table” minded fisher.
I was fishing this pond last weekend for crappies, and a couple bass anglers showed up. One of them caught this bass on a jerk-bait (lure). I was glad to find she’d survived the winter. The anglers got a great memory, a few pics, and released her again. Gotta love it!
