sage xi2

Hello,

I got to test cast the sage xi2 yesterday and I really liked the rod. The rod is a hefty chunk of change, but after casting it I can see why. I usually get to saltwater fish about once every year on the texas coast, and the rod I currently use is a sage RPL. Does the Xi2 have any freshwater applications? Would it make a good bass rod?
If I lived on the coast that would be my everyday rod, but being that I live inland, I am trying to justify a $600+ 8wt. Thank you for all of the help.

Mike

The Xi2 would make an outSTANDing bass rod, provided you’re talking about 3+lb bucketmoufs that like big flies. It has lots of lifting power in the butt which will work well to pull those pigs out of the junk.

If you’re talking about fishing for the smaller bass in the hill-country, you’re taking a bazooka to a knife fight.

Buy the 6wt for bass - maybe the 7 if you thinkyou might join the ranks of the salty dogs over on the pirates’ board.

You have my permission. I will not tell your wife.

Thanks for all of the info. The 6wt is a good idea. Has anyone cast the 6 wt xi2? Thanks again.

Mike

As far as pirates are concerned arrrhhhh!!

I have never cast an XI2 but I fish an 890 RPL Off the jetty and the beach. If you only get to the salt once or twice a year,I would stick with what you already have.

if you like fast rods, the best 6wt out there is the tcr. that thing is a rocket but not too stiff where you feel like you are working out.
