I want to add a “short” 3 wt rod (6’ or 6’6")to my collection. Would appreciate hearing from anyone that has had experience with these rods. Thanks Dave
I don’t have the Sage rods that you mention but I have a 7ft 2/3 wt Gatti that is fantastic. I recomend them

I have a 2 wt SLT. Fine rod. In all honesty though I would say that I tend to use my 4 wt SLT more often. Easier to cast at distance and still has the same feel when fighting fish. I personally haven’t found the 2 wt to be any more “fun” when fighting a fish as of late.
I just had a loaner rod from Sage, a TXL 7’10" 3 weight that is really sweet. After comparing it to an SLT and a Winston LT, I’m pretty certain the TXL is on my “Buy” list!
I have owned the Sage 366 LL rod,it is very stiff for a 3wt, and I like stiff rods. The rod IMHO works best with a 4wt line.
The shorter 3wt rods by Sage are excellent in the early SPL series 363-3 SPL and later 363-3 SLT both are very similar and cast nicely with a 3wt line. I believe both are discontinued at this time however, they are available as leftovers or used.

I don’t believe the SLT has been discontinued at all…it is a very popular rod and Sage expects it to be around for quite a while.

How does the Sage LE compare to the SLT?
Fish more, work less!
The LE in my opinion is ‘softer’ or a slower rod than the SLT. The SLT is ranked as a moderate rod, not a fast rod. Fishes just perfectly

You have the cnnection. Why don’t you simply ask Jerry S. to supply us with the CCS values for the ERN, AA, and CCF for the rods in question? Then, you could tell us and we all know something that could be useful.
“Sweet” and “Well Received” just don’t tell me much?nor does “moderate” without a definition of how fast is fast.
My best to you and JC

I tried out a Sage Launch series 3 weight 7’9 rod yesterday and I was blown away by the performance. For $170 it felt better than the other rods I tried including a winston 3 weight that cost over $500. I don’t know why but I thought for the entry level sage it was awesome. Anybody have this rod? What do you think?
