The only non bamboo rod I fish the LL 581
379-3 LL 7’9"
[i]Simply a delightful rod to cast.
It will lay a fly down as if it were a thistle sailing off a light breeze.

One of the best rods I have ever cast…

Hi,
I have a 486 LL G-III ( they also made G-II’s ). Don’t get me wrong, I loved fishing it and did so often for several years. Although it hasn’t left the house now in probably six years, mainly due to it’s two piece configuration. Someday it’ll find a new home with someone that doesn’t mind a rod that is sectionally challenged.
Best, Dave
I caught about a dozen trout today on my 389.
Hey Kerry,
Just think of all the fun you would of had if you had my 379 ..:p
…489-2 LL. Or is it a 490??
My 379-3 is my favorite small stream rod and probably my favorite freshwater rod and my 490-4 is still my favorite spring creek rod. I prefer the 379-3 casting wise but the 490 gets the nod in many cases because of the advantages of the longer length when mending.
18 to 20 inch triploids were plenty fun on the 389. Perfect sunny day on a small fly only lake near my house with only 2 other anglers there and sight casting to large fish feeding in the shallows things can’t get much better.
But on a 379 …
Sound like a good time for sure

I’ve never heard of the special edition Sage LL “Scott G” model, which is odd since I live in the same town that Scott produces their rods!
I have to agree with those choosing the 389. I just wish I hadn’t sold it a few years ago.
