Sage LL or SPL 2wts

I have been offered a choice of a Sage 279-2 LL or a Sage 282-3 SPL for helping someone out. Both rods are new in the tube and have never even been cast. I wont have the opportunity to try them.

I have a 379-3 and 490-4 LL, which are my favorite trout rods, so I have been leaning towards the LL. I cast the 0 and 1wt SPL when they came out but that was about 13 years ago I think.

I can’t go wrong with either choice.

Any thoughts on LL and SPL 2wts such as preferred lines, performance at less than 15ft or between 15 and 30ft, or anything else…

I can’t go wrong with either choice.

Absolutely! I’d probably go with the LL. Since, you have a couple LL’s and know how they cast, there wouldn’t be any guessing as to how it performs. Also, the LL’s have become a collector’s items, so they’re worth quite a bit. Man, i’m jealous! lol.

I understand the LLs are in demand. They are great finesse, dry fly rods.
