Hi there. I was out camping and fishing with my dog last weekend at Rock Creek. Well I put my fly rod on the top of my rack after some stream side fishing and forgot to secure it and drove off to my next spot. Well you know what happend  I was able to backtrack and find the rod on the side of the road with the tip broken off and the rod missing to the last eyelet. I would say I am missing about 4 inches of the tip. This was a 5 wt. 9’ rod. My thinking is to buy a new tip and turn it into an 8’-6" rod with a new tip. Yes it will change the action some but will it change it to the point of making it non fishable? With the cost of rods I just can’t sneek a new one by the misses.
Just send the ENTIRE rod to Sage and they will replace only the tip section for a reasonable fee. They need the second section to do a proper fit, so it is best to send the whole rod.
They are a class company and I have NEVER had them fail to take care of me … whether warranty or not.

Never thought of that. Sometimes the easiest things to do are sitting right in front of you:rolleyes:
Something else to consider…don’t discard the broken section…I broke off a tip about the same length…just added a tip top to it as you mentioned…so now I have a backup section but also have a regular length section…and I do think I notice a little difference in the casting of the two different sections.
